Details about Thursday 2/23

6th grade math: We explored how to cross simplify fractions when multiplying them. We created our own problems and solved each others. Then we played a multiplying soccer game on the starboard.
8th grade math: took Test 10 B
7th grade math: We discovered what a unit price is, and how it helps us find the best deal. Students created their own unit price problems, and we solved each others' trying to find the best deal. Students will apply this to lesson 67 tonight for homework. Students also had time to finish test 10B in class.

7/8 Science: In the discover activity, we experienced a transfer of kinetic to potential energy. We read and took notes on energy conversions. Students were given lots of examples to record in their notes. Their homework is to continue reading pages 150-151 and take notes. The notes will be checked and discussed tomorrow.

6 Science: We built on the knowledge from yesterday by viewing a Discover video on Monteserat and its volcano. We read about the different locations that volcanoes occur, and real life examples of them. Students were shown pictures of volcanoes in the Northwest USA and we compared how they look. Students also viewed a short video on the Pacific Rim of Fire, and we discussed volcanoes on the ocean floor.

5 Science: Students filled in a guided notes worksheet about the information they learned yesterday. They also completed a diagram of the parts of a fern, and the life cycle of a conifer. We started discussing the different ways plants reproduce, sexually and asexually. We will continue this for the next week or so.
